Donne che spaccano

Donne che spaccano

Literally, “Women who kick butt”, a wonderful and unusual programme of music from the early Italian Baroque by women composers. Some of these very strong personalities such as Barbara Strozzi, Francesca Caccini or Isabella Leonarda are well known today while others, such as Antonia Bembo or Claudia Sessa, are not. These are women who managed to walk away from the stereotype lives of housekeeping or household management, to follow their own careers as internationally reputable composers and musicians. We are all to be thankful to them for their courage, their determination and their genus.
